PROJECT: YOMI

Project Yomi is a UDK-based stealth/exploration level loosely based on Japanese myth. Sneaking through a shadowy underworld, itself a dark reflection of the land of the living, an ancient Japanese god seeks his long lost love.

Project Yomi was created by five SCAD students as an advanced level-design project. The goal and challenge we took upon ourselves was to create a believable yet surreal overbuilt Asian city, that was melancholic but held small islands of hope, and presented a jarring conflict between the traditional and the modern.

As art lead on the team, I was tasked with not only creating a large amount of assets, but also with translating the flat corridors given to me by the game designer into a more artist-friendly "asset blockout" prototype. Finally, it was my responsibility to integrate all assets into the final level and coordinate the efforts of the artists.
